The data screening utility (DATSU) facilitates data validation for a variety of data submitted to ICES databases. For example Biodiversity, Bycatch, Eggs and Larvae and more.
You can access the data screening utlity through the link here, and the data portals also have links to their own versions of data screening i.e. DATRAS, DOME, and InterCatch among others.
Data validation is performed upon data submissions which is generally an automated procedure. The data validation process uses a set of rules, it checks whether the data are within the acceptable values defined in the field or between fields. For example, the type, uniqueness, and value range of the data. This validation produces a report containing flagged quality checks, so the submitter can review the data for corrections, before importing into ICES databases.
